The Itinerary

Day One

Arriving in a new country is always a sensory delight – the sights, smells, and colors all come alive. That's why, on our journey to the hotel, our first stop will be in Kurunegala. Here, we'll take a leisurely walk along the lake shores, immersing ourselves in the local ambiance just like the Sinhalese locals do, while grabbing a snack to fuel our exploration.

Our journey will lead us to the ancient city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where centuries-old stupas and temples stand as testaments to Sri Lanka's rich Buddhist heritage, offering a glimpse into the spiritual heart of the island. Here, amidst the revered Bo tree and sacred monuments, we'll witness the devout reverence of the Sinhalese people, immersing ourselves in their traditions and rituals that have endured through the ages.

ANURADHAPURA

Day Three

Ascend to the magnificent Sigiriya fortress, a colossal magma rock concealing ancient noble structures and offering a breathtaking panoramic view from its summit. Pass through the iconic Lions Gate and marvel at the remarkably preserved frescoes adorning the cave walls, immersing yourself in the rich history and beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the Sri Dalada Maligawa Temple, we'll encounter the revered relic of the Buddha's tooth, a sacred symbol of profound significance. Witness Buddhist pilgrims paying homage with flowers and offerings, reflecting the enduring reverence for this ancient artifact. Throughout history, possessing this relic has been synonymous with power, underscoring its pivotal role in shaping the cultural and spiritual landscape of Sri Lanka.

The rest of the day will be dedicated to exploring the vibrant city of Kandy, with its bustling center and bustling market.

Ramboda Waterfalls is a fantastic stop, offering a serene glimpse of nature's beauty. A visit to a tea factory is a must for anyone interested in learning about Ceylon tea's rich history and production process. Exploring the picturesque surroundings of Lake Gregory and the charming British-influenced architecture in Nuwara Eliya promises a captivating experience. Boarding the train from Nanu Oya station* to Ella sounds like a wonderful way to continue the journey, offering breathtaking views along the scenic route. Day Six

The day begins with a journey to Buduruwagala, an ancient marvel nestled amidst lush greenery. As you explore this sacred site, you'll be transported back in time, marveling at the craftsmanship and spiritual significance of these ancient sculptures.

After immersing yourself in the serenity of Buduruwagala, the adventure continues to Yala National Park, a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Renowned for its incredible biodiversity, Yala is home to the highest concentration of leopards in the world, thriving in an environment where they have no natural predators. Your safari through the park offers the opportunity to witness these elusive big cats in their natural habitat, a truly exhilarating experience.

Begin your day by exploring Galle, the third most significant city in Sri Lanka, boasting a rich tapestry of colonial influence. Before our flight, let's squeeze in some last-minute fun in Colombo! We'll zip by Independence Square, soak up the sea breeze at Galle Face, and revel in the colonial charm of the Fort area.
